The N810 got its start here as an idea born out of market research and brainstorming. Months later the gadget landed back in Finland, where teams assembled its innards - circuitry and other electronic components - and put it through rigorous tests before sending it out to stores around the world.

Just don't call the N810 a "phone" around the Finns. The device - which doesn't work on traditional voice cellular networks but on data standards Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and, in some models, WiMax broadband networks - is more like a pocket computer than a mobile phone.
